What Exactly is Adopt?

Adopt Ltd is a completely independent N Ireland charity providing support for adults facing the challenges of adoption.  It was established in 1989, in response to the introduction of legislation entitling adopted adults to their original birth certificates.  Its main aim has always been to help adults handle their feelings about the challenges that adoption can bring, and if necessary, to provide help with the tracing process.  Anyone - adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, partners, friends, or anyone supporting someone from within the adoption triangle can come to us for help.

Our office is in Belfast, but our work covers the whole of N Ireland. We also deal with enquiries from people in the South, from mainland UK and from other countries, eg Australia.
